Unplugged But Not Disconnected

Just the other day I was using my Bluetooth and it kept beeping that the battery was low.  I thought “this is odd” because I charge it every night.  So I plugged in the tip for a couple of hours then started back to using it.  Almost immediately I started hearing the beeping again, so I plugged it in again.  This time for four hours, next try, and same thing happened.  So I decided to leave it plugged in overnight.  The next morning, the minute I started using it, it started beeping.  Now I’m about to become really upset because I’ve had this one less than a year.

After much talking to myself, I decided to go out later in the day to purchase a new one.  As I sat down to lunch, my eyes wandered over to the outlet where the Bluetooth is plugged into.  Imagine my chagrin when I noticed that the piece that goes into the wall was on the floor!  All I could do was laugh heartily.

Has this ever happened to you?  The major piece you need is right in front of you but somehow it’s overlooked.  The more you work with the most visible piece, the more frustrated you become.

Don’t you hate when that happens?

My Dad used to call it “not being able to see the forest for the trees.”

And you’re right — all you can do is chuckle with yourself and get on with it!

Boy, I do things like that all the time! I forget things, I put the milk away in the cabinet, and I’m forever looking for my readying glasses and keys. Sometimes I even blame my husband for misplacing something. That is, until I find it in the “safe” place I had stored it. Oops!

Glad you solved your bluetooth problem. I’ve done similar things. Makes you feel silly. :-)

Inez, I do this so often now, I feel like Lucy Ricardo … like my life is a ’50s sit-com! How I hate to admit that these incidents have increased with birthday candles. Still, before we worry too much that the old gray matter she ain’t what she used to be, consider this: We live in such a fast-paced world with information and demands bombarding us at a speed our poor brains have not yet evolved to handle. I think that’s just as big a factor in our fumblings … and what the hey, I loved Lucy … who doesn’t?
