The Loss Of A Loved One

epaulI’ve had a very special person in my life almost all of my life who is no longer physically present on this plane.  His leaving me was something that I had tried to prepare for but…  It seems to me that no matter how I tried, I was still unprepared for his death.  BUT then, how does one prepare for a loved ones death?

In my culture we don’t really teach or prepare people for the passing of a loved one.  We offer condolences and platitudes.  What I do know is that the pain of loss is great even though I know that he is out of pain and no longer suffering.  My head knows this, my heart is having a hard time getting in sync and letting go.

I remember being a skinny little girl when he came into my family by marriage to my sister.  He was a gentle, caring man though not highly educated but could fix anything.  At the age of twelve he taught me how to read blueprints.  He’d come to my house on Sunday and we’d go through the Sunday paper together looking for the blueprint for that day.  Those were times I treasure.

Moving forward, I grew up and went away to school never to live there again.  However, going back at Christmas and other times throughout the years he was always there to ask “how are you doing” and was really interested and cared about my answer.

When he retired, he took up cooking–something he had never done.  To my and others surprise, he became quite good at making traditional dishes.  He even mastered cooking collard greens!  His greens were so delicious that he was in charge of making them for one family Thanksgiving Dinner.  Thanksgiving is the time my siblings and I share dinner with other friends and in-laws.  Everyone raved about his greens.  He was so proud!

Paul Columbus Lee was not a complicated man.  He was a hard worker and believed in helping where he could.  He didn’t talk much but what he said carried weight and had meaning.  He touched many lives with his generosity and caring spirit.  He is truly missed.

How did you cope when you lost a loved one?

Part III

Now that we’ve talked about the heart, let’s not forget about the head.  You are born with both the head and heart. Your task is to live your best life and be in harmony with your head and heart. The poet Rumi wisely said, “Live completely in the head and you cannot feel the breath and rhythm of life. Live completely in the heart and you may find yourself acting like a love-struck fool with poor judgment and discipline. It’s all a fine balance – the head and heart must forge a lifetime partnership if one wants to live a beautiful life.”

Listen to your intuition. Humans have a sixth sense that is uncanny in delivering mysterious and spontaneous reaction on things. Your authentic self communicates with you and guides you through intuition. Intuition gives gentle nudges that urge you to act and follow a certain path. Your role then is to pay attention.

It’s important to remember, it is your life and you get to choose.  It doesn’t mean that you ignore what others say.  Listen to them and then make your own decisions based on your authentic self.

Each person who wants to create a life of fullness and joy must define what they want and how it looks.  Your life can shine as brightly as you desire.  Listen to your intuition and follow your heart’s desire.

You’re at a time in your life when you get to create the life you desire and deserve.  Decide what you want and go for it.  You will never go wrong.

What will  you do today that supports you on creating the life you desire and deserve?

What will you do today that engages your heart, mind, spirit and intuition?

It’s entirely up to you!

Part II

You’re no longer the person in charge or the go to person in your workplace; so the challenge now becomes, who am I really? It’s okay to be undecided about what you want out of life or who you’re becoming.  There are many ways of unleashing your authentic self and allowing your passion and purpose to unfold.

Looking deep into you heart is one of the primary steps for allowing your passion and purpose to surface.  This might be difficult for you if you are a logical person who lives by what you think you should be or by what others like you to be. The allowing process is the perfect time to listen to your heart. Your heart’s desire comes from the soft inner voice of your authentic self; the real you.

Listening to your heart allows you to hear your authentic self. You know it’s your heart talking because it feels right. Your heart’s desire is usually what you love to do.  This represents your passion. Doing things with passion and purpose is fun and is accomplished easily and effortlessly.

You’re infused with joy as you do things that are your passion.  This doesn’t mean that you want have difficulties, curves, detours and obstacles.  These “hiccups” make it more challenging, but don’t be stopped by them.  There may be barriers to try and prevent you from reaching your goal.  Think of this as a test because your heart’s desire will find ways to overcome these barriers.   Remember this: the universe supports people who are embracing their passion and those who are following their destiny.

Are You Living Consciously?

The Inez Bracy Show: Living Smart and Well on Monday, March 2, Gorgeous For God, was all about awakening and living life fully.  Living in this fast paced world, we sometimes forget that we create our reality.  Whenever we spend time running hither and yond, we lose the power of being present.  We have ONLY this moment!  Too often we spend time in future thought (worrying) or in past thought (remembering) that we lose the power of NOW!

My guest, Lisa Natoli, Gorgeous For God, talked about how she used A Course In Miracles to begin her journey of conscious living.  Surprisingly, as many of us do, Lisa took two years to really fully engage in using the information to change her life.  As humans, we pride ourselves on being logical thinkers.

Therefore, we often think ourselves right out of living consciously because we question every thing!  We’ve been taught that asking questions shows intelligence, and of course we want to show up as intelligent being.  Choosing to live consciously allows you to stop questioning and be in the flow.

Using A Course In Miracles is just one of the tools you can use to begin your awakening.  There are many self help books to help you on your journey of allowing yourself to let go and BE.  In addition, having a Life Coach to help you embrace the information and get through “growth spurts” is a major step in living consciously.

What are you doing to be light and love today?
